Overview

The TCL 85P8L is an 85-inch premium 4K UHD Smart TV featuring QD-Mini LED display technology, Quantum Dot colour, Full Array Local Dimming and a native 144Hz refresh rate. The 85P8L uses an HVA panel and features 112 Full Array Local Dimming zones specifically on the 85-inch model. QD-Mini LED Display

The TCL 85P8L uses QD-Mini LED technology, combining Mini LED backlighting with Quantum Dot colour technology. Mini LED provides significantly more precise control of the screen's backlight compared with conventional LED TVs. The 85-inch version has 112 Full Array Local Dimming zones, allowing different areas of the screen to be dimmed or brightened independently. This helps improve contrast, particularly in scenes containing both very bright and very dark areas.

QLED Quantum Dot Colour

The TV incorporates Quantum Dot technology to produce a wider and more vibrant range of colours. TCL specifies coverage of up to 93% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, allowing compatible content to be displayed with richer and more detailed colour reproduction. This makes the 85P8L well suited to movies, nature documentaries, sports and other content where accurate and vivid colours are important.

4K UHD Resolution

With a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels, the TCL 85P8L provides 4K Ultra HD picture quality. The combination of 4K resolution and an expansive 85-inch screen provides detailed images while giving viewers a large cinematic viewing area. The large display is particularly suitable for spacious living rooms, entertainment rooms and home theatre setups.

144Hz Native Refresh Rate

One of the major features of the TCL 85P8L is its 144Hz native refresh rate. A higher refresh rate allows the TV to display fast-moving images more smoothly. This is particularly useful for sports, action movies and gaming. For compatible gaming content, the TV also supports TCL's Game Accelerator technology, with refresh rates of up to 288Hz through supported HDMI connections.

Gaming Features

The TCL 85P8L is designed to support high-refresh-rate gaming. Its HDMI 2.1 connectivity provides the bandwidth required by compatible modern gaming equipment. Features such as Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) help improve gaming responsiveness and reduce unwanted screen tearing or delays when supported by the connected device. The combination of 4K resolution, 144Hz native refresh rate and high-refresh-rate gaming support makes the 85P8L suitable for PlayStation, Xbox and compatible gaming PCs.

HDR Picture

The TCL 85P8L supports several HDR formats, including:

• Dolby Vision
• HDR10+
• HLG

HDR allows compatible content to display a broader range of brightness and contrast. Combined with Mini LED local dimming and Quantum Dot colour, the TV can provide more detailed highlights, deeper dark areas and richer colours in supported HDR content.

Google TV

The TCL 85P8L uses Google TV as its smart TV platform. Google TV brings supported streaming services, applications and entertainment content together in one interface. The built-in smart platform also allows users to search for content and manage compatible applications directly from the television. Built-in wireless connectivity allows the TV to connect to the internet without requiring a separate streaming device.

ONKYO 2.1-Channel Sound

The 85-inch TCL 85P8L features an ONKYO 2.1-channel Hi-Fi audio system. The audio system consists of two 10W speakers together with a 20W bass channel, providing a total rated audio output of 40W. This setup is designed to provide stronger sound and bass compared with a basic stereo TV speaker configuration. A compatible external soundbar or home theatre system can also be added for a more extensive audio setup.

The TCL 85P8L provides modern connectivity for entertainment and gaming equipment. Connectivity features include:

• HDMI 2.1
• USB
• Wi-Fi 5
• Bluetooth 5.4
• Ethernet/LAN
