Pulse Elite Wireless Headset

The Sony Pulse Elite Wireless Headset is a premium gaming headset designed specifically for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation Portal, offering high-fidelity audio through advanced technology. A key highlight is its use of planar magnetic drivers, a rare inclusion in gaming headsets, typically reserved for high-end studio headphones. These drivers deliver exceptionally clear, balanced sound with accurate spatial representation, making it ideal for games that rely on positional audio cues—like Call of Duty, Horizon Forbidden West, or Returnal.

The headset supports PlayStation Link, Sony’s proprietary low-latency wireless technology. This ensures lag-free audio for PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC, and Mac when using the included USB adapter. It also features Bluetooth 5.0 support, which allows users to connect simultaneously to two devices. For example, you can play on your PS5 while answering calls or streaming music from a smartphone—a feature gamers find incredibly useful during long sessions.

The retractable boom microphone uses AI-enhanced noise rejection, providing clearer voice chat by filtering out background noise. Although functional, some users report that the mic quality is average compared to similarly priced competitors. Battery life is a major strength: up to 30 hours on a full charge, with a quick 10-minute charge giving 2 hours of use. It also comes with a charging hanger, which serves as a wall- or desk-mountable cradle, offering both storage and fast charging through built-in contact points.

Comfort-wise, the Pulse Elite is lightweight but has drawn mixed feedback. The plastic construction feels durable, though some find the ear cups a bit shallow, and the headband tension may be uncomfortable during extended play. Additionally, there are no physical chat/game mix controls on the headset—volume balancing must be done through the PS5 software interface, which some find inconvenient.

One downside is inconsistent performance across Bluetooth and PlayStation Link. Some users experience occasional connectivity drops, especially on the PlayStation Portal. Furthermore, while mids and highs sound crisp, bass performance is somewhat limited, with distortion reported at high volumes in explosion-heavy or cinematic scenes.
