The Nokia C1 2nd Edition is an entry-level smartphone released by HMD Global under the Nokia brand. Aimed primarily at budget-conscious users or first-time smartphone owners, it offers essential features for basic communication, social media use, and light internet browsing. Its simplicity, affordability, and durability make it a popular choice in emerging markets such as Kenya.

Design and Display

The device features a 5.45-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, making it compact and easy to hold in one hand. The resolution is adequate for general use like reading texts, watching videos, or browsing the web. Its plastic body is built to withstand minor drops and rough use, which suits everyday life in rural and urban settings alike. It’s available in eye-catching colors like Blue and Purple, giving users some style options even at a low price point.

Performance

Powering the Nokia C1 2nd Edition is a Unisoc SC7731e quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz. It comes with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128 GB via a microSD card. While the specs won’t impress heavy users, they are sufficient for essential tasks like calling, messaging, browsing with lightweight apps, and using social platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook.

Camera and Software

The Nokia C1 2nd Edition is equipped with a 5 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front-facing camera, both supported by LED flash, which is rare at this price. These cameras are suitable for casual photography and video calls. It runs on Android 11 (Go edition), a streamlined version of Android designed to run smoothly on low-end hardware. The Go edition includes lightweight versions of Google apps like Gmail Go and YouTube Go.

Battery and Connectivity

With a 2500 mAh removable battery, users can expect a full day of moderate use. Since it's removable, it’s easy to replace, which adds to the phone’s longevity. The phone supports dual SIMs and 3G connectivity, though it lacks 4G/LTE, which is a downside in areas with fast mobile networks. It also includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, a headphone jack, and micro-USB charging.
