Hisense REF250DR 251Litres Double Door No Frost Fridge

The Hisense REF250DR (or REF251DR) is a 251-litre double door, No Frost refrigerator designed for medium-sized households seeking affordability without compromising key modern features. This fridge has become popular in markets like Kenya due to its balance of size, functionality, and energy efficiency.

 Design & Capacity

The REF250DR offers a total storage capacity of 251 litres, divided into a top freezer and bottom refrigerator. Its double-door layout provides easy access to both compartments. Inside, the fridge features adjustable tempered glass shelves, a vegetable crisper drawer, and multiple door racks for drinks, condiments, and small items. It also includes bright LED interior lighting to enhance visibility, especially in low-light kitchens.

Cooling Technology

This model uses No Frost technology, meaning it automatically prevents frost build-up. This reduces the need for manual defrosting and helps maintain consistent cooling. Powered by the R600a refrigerant, the fridge runs efficiently and quietly, with minimal environmental impact. The cooling system is supported by a mechanical temperature control knob, which lets users manually adjust internal temperatures based on load and climate.

Features & Functionality

Although this fridge is relatively basic in terms of smart functions (no digital display or water dispenser), it offers the essentials most users need:

• Low-noise compressor

• Energy-saving LED lighting

• Sturdy, spill-proof shelving

• Crisper drawer to maintain vegetable moisture The absence of complex electronics contributes to reliability and affordability.

Warranty & Reliability

Hisense provides a 2-year warranty in most regions, including Kenya. However, user feedback suggests this warranty service can be inconsistent. Some users on forums like Reddit and local retailer reviews report delays in repair services, difficulty sourcing spare parts, or poor customer service experiences. This doesn't mean every unit fails, but it's something to be aware of.

 User Experience

Many users praise the fridge’s quiet operation, compact but adequate space, and good build quality for the price. Others, however, mention early compressor issues or door seal failures. These mixed reviews highlight the importance of buying from reputable dealers who honor warranties.
