DJI Osmo Mobile 7P Gimbal

The DJI Osmo Mobile 7P is the latest premium smartphone gimbal from DJI, designed to provide professional-grade stabilization and intelligent features in a highly portable package. Aimed at mobile content creators, vloggers, and live streamers, it combines DJI’s 7th-generation stabilization technology with a modular design, built-in lighting, and seamless gesture-based tracking—even without needing the DJI app.

Design & Build

The Osmo Mobile 7P is lightweight yet solid, weighing just 368g with the magnetic clamp and module. It folds down to a compact size, making it easy to carry in a small bag or pocket. A key highlight is the Multifunctional Module, which magnetically attaches to the gimbal and serves multiple purposes: it acts as a wireless mic receiver (compatible with DJI Mic Mini), provides gesture control, and offers a built-in LED fill light with adjustable color temperature (2500K to 6000K) and brightness.

The magnetic phone clamp supports devices up to 300g and 84mm wide, ensuring compatibility with nearly all smartphones, even with cases. The integrated 8.5-inch extension rod and tripod legs make it excellent for vlogging, interviews, or wide-angle selfies.

 Stabilization & Tracking

At its core, the 7P features DJI’s most advanced 3-axis stabilization, ensuring ultra-smooth footage whether you’re walking, running, or filming fast-paced action. The ActiveTrack 7.0 system, combined with gesture recognition, enables precise subject tracking using hand signs like a wave, V-shape, or palm raise—even without the DJI Mimo app.

The 7P also features a side control wheel that allows users to adjust zoom, focus, or fill-light brightness—a unique addition for fine-tuned control during filming.

Battery Life & Charging

The gimbal delivers up to 10 hours of use in standard mode. When using gesture tracking or fill light features, battery life reduces to around 4–5 hours, which is still sufficient for a day of shooting. It charges via USB-C in about 2.5 hours and supports reverse charging to top up your smartphone.

Smart Features

With support for shooting modes like SpinShot, Timelapse, Motionlapse, Panorama, and FPV, the 7P is not just a stabilizer—it’s a storytelling tool. It connects via Bluetooth 5.3 for fast pairing and stable performance and supports remote control via Apple Watch.

Verdict

The DJI Osmo Mobile 7P is a feature-packed, creator-friendly gimbal that raises the bar for mobile filmmaking. From app-free tracking to built-in fill lighting and mic integration, it’s an all-in-one production tool for today’s mobile-first content creator.
