Design & Controls

With a more modern aesthetic including metal accents and minimal seams, the Ultra headphones weigh about 250 g and fold flat into a case. Physical controls are concentrated on the earcups: a capacitive touch strip for volume and shortcuts, and a multifunction button for mode switching and playback control. Some users find the single‑cup control system fiddly compared to the physical buttons of previous models.

 Noise Cancellation & Spatial Audio

ANC performance is considered among Bose’s best—effective across varying environments like transit, cafes, and noisy urban settings. Awareness mode is reliable, though transparency sound can feel artificial in wind BestReviews. The Immersive Audio feature enhances spatial realism, though it may feel gimmicky at times depending on content .

Audio Performance

Upon initial pairing, the sound may feel muted until CustomTune calibrates to your ears—after which audio clarity, instrument separation, and low distortion become evident. Note that some users find the signature too flat or lacking excitement without Immersive Audio activated .

Dynamically responsive with customizable EQ via the Bose app, they comfortably deliver balanced bass and warm mids but won’t please those seeking a more aggressive sound profile.

Call & Connectivity

Equipped with a 12‑mic array, the Ultra headphones deliver clean voice pickup and solid call quality even in noisy environments. Multipoint Bluetooth (with aptX Adaptive support) allows simultaneous connection to two devices—with generally stable switching, though some report occasional drops when paired with multipoint enabled .

Battery & Charging

Bose claims up to 24 hours with ANC only, and 18 hours when Immersive Audio is enabled. Independent testing suggests 28 hours in ANC-only mode, and around 20 hours with both features active. Full recharge takes ~2–3 hours, while a 15-minute quick charge typically yields ~2 hours of playback
